rooting nexus one FRG83

I had quite a few problems when I tried to root my nexus one FRG83 (how I cursed myself for applying the update without a second thought). Anyways the good news is that it is still possible to root the nexus one using the rageagainstthecage exploit (I know its a mouthfull). So I decided to write this guide for newbies directing you step by step on how to use this exploit.

Oh and in case you are wondering using this exploit doesn't delete any data on your phone or cause any changes (as far as the rooting part goes). The custom mods however will do that but thats another story. Also this guide is purely for windows so if youre a MAC or a Linux fellow you should start looking for another guide.

First things first you need to download certain stuff.

1 the rageagainstthecage exploit. You can get that here: http://stealth.openwall.net/xSports/...nstTheCage.tgz

you will also need the android sdk kit which is available from google at

http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

once you have the android sdk save it in c: drive (I'm assuming that is your master drive) now run the exe file it will want to download and install lots of stuff from google just let it do what it does. once that is complete go to your desktop and click on the windows icon go further to run and type "cmd" and press enter. If you have done everything right a command prompt window will open. change the directory to c:\androidsdk\android-sdk-windows\tools using the cd command. before you move any further copy the rageagainstthecageexploit file into the same folder and use winzip to extract it.
